ICS Computing to attend Silver Surfer Event
16 April 2009
Did you know that 8 out of 10 older people in the UK still can't access online services? ICS Computing staff will have the chance to change this by taking to their local libraries on May 15th to teach older people the basics of using a computer and the Internet.
Media literacy, in today's digital age, is more important than ever. It can facilitate a more convenient, cheaper, community-rich lifestyle. Older people, who have so much to gain from the online world, are still largely missing out. Silver Surfers Day O9 will reach many thousands of older people in hundreds of locations around the UK and do something very tangible about redressing this imbalance. This year, ICS Computing is part of this challenge thanks to our six volunteers including Janet Robb, Andy Finlay, Audrey Lindsay, Rachelle Howell, Marianne Hendron and Glenn Porter.
The Silver Surfers Event 09 is the first in a line of events that ICS Computing will be participating in under the Business in the Community Programme.
