Leading IT solutions and services provider Equiniti ICS, based in Belfast, is aiming to raise £20K in funds for its designated charity Macmillan Cancer Support in 2010.

Equiniti ICS chose Macmillan as its charity of the year with the help of Business in the Community (BITC), and has already begun a number of company-wide initiatives aimed at raising the much needed funds. These have included creative concepts such as a 'cupid' themed day on Valentine's Day, as well as a St Patrick's day initiative with 'leprechauns' doling out bowls of stew to staff in return for a donation.

Stephen Watters from Equiniti ICS said: "We are delighted to be helping Macmillan Cancer Support and everyone at Equiniti ICS is fully focused on reaching our fundraising target in 2010. We chose Macmillan as our charity with the help of BITC, who made sure that the charity's goals are closely aligned with the culture of our own organisation, meaning that staff can really get behind this initiative with a range of innovative events and ensure that we are successful. The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of people who need it most, and this is a great motivation for us all to give generously."

Lisa McGrogan from Macmillan Cancer Support said: "We are very happy to have Equiniti ICS on board as a fundraising partner. It is heartening that we were chosen as the company charity by a staff vote, so we know that the employees are fully behind us and will endeavour to raise the much needed funds. Our relationship is very much a partnership which will mutually benefit both organisations, and we are committed to supporting any events Equiniti ICS chooses to run over the year in any way we can."

Mary Carson from BITC said: "We have been working with Equiniti ICS for over a year now and they have taken part in a number of volunteering challenges through our Cares Programme which have included painting and decorating and garden make-over's at local schools. Equiniti ICS have also been a great advocate of our 'Silver Surfers Day' which aims to encourage the over 50's to go online and utilise the internet to its full potential and throughout this academic year have been working closely with Fleming Fulton through our 'Adopt a School' programme. We have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication of the staff and are delighted to see how creatively they are approaching the fundraising challenge for Macmillan. I have no doubt that Equiniti ICS will reach its fundraising target for Macmillan Cancer and help the organisation to continue its good work."
